Stargirl

Courtney Elizabeth Whitmore, known as Stargirl (often called "Stars" or "Star"), is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder, the character's name and personality were patterned after Johns' sister Courtney, who died in the explosion of TWA Flight 800 in 1996. The character made her first appearance in Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. #1 (July 1999). Courtney Whitmore was originally known as the second Star-Spangled Kid, but she began using the name "Stargirl" after she was presented with the Cosmic Staff by Jack Knight.
