Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 #116, January, 1973
This issue adapts the first 19 pages of Spectacular Spider-Man Magazine #1. The story was heavily re-drawn and edited to fit the continuity of the time. However, as Richard Raleigh had been seen dead as well in Daredevil #42, it remains unclear which of the two versions are to be considered in continuity.
There are various art changes to update the clothing and hairstyles of the characters to match the times. Likewise, some of the dialogue has been re-written to eliminate dated slang, as well as address then-current continuity.
Spider-Man starts this story wearing an imitation Halloween mask as he lost his usual mask in Amazing Spider-Man #113.
There are multiple references to Gwen spending a lot of time with Flash Thompson (Amazing Spider-Man #108-109, Spider-Man's battle with Doctor Octopus and Hammerhead, as well as Aunt May living in Doc Ock's mansion as seen in Amazing Spider-Man #112-115.
