Hawkman (Volume 1) was an ongoing comic book series published by DC Comics from May of 1964 until September of 1968. The series focused on the Thanagarian Earth-One hero, Hawkman (Katar Hol) and his wife and partner, Hawkwoman (Shayera Hol). Many of the stories from this series are now considered apocryphal due to events which transpired in the Hawkworld ongoing series. Hawkman, Vol 4, was an ongoing comic book series that premiered in May of 2002 and ended in 2006. Unlike previous volumes of the Hawkman title, this is the first series to feature Carter Hall – the Golden Age Hawkman. Although Hawkman was featured in Flash Comics during the 1940s, this is the first time the character has ever received his own title. The groundwork for this series followed the three part "Return of Hawkman" storyline featured in JSA #23-#25. Following issue #50, the series changed it's title to Hawkgirl, with Hawkman's partner, Kendra Saunders assuming the title role.
